I have used other Philips Avent products, with excellent results, so this sterilizer seemed to be a natural choice for sterilizing Avent bottles. Setup is quick and easy, and using it in the microwave is super quick. This beats boiling bottles, hands down. So the only question remaining is this: can you be sure your clean bottles are actually sterile? My answer? No Mothers and grandmothers will appreciate the quick

This sterilizer is pretty good, it works on most bottles (I use NUK). It takes only 2 minutes and the handles are not hot-easy to take from the microwave. But this is not travel item For travel and for small apartments/condos where storage is limited I highly recommend steam bags. I use Medela's

  • Title: A nice product & useful

My wife has been breast feeding our son since his birth this past January. So when he doesn't eat directly from the breast, my wife will pump and store the milk for a later time. Well storage containers and bottles need to be sterilized for sanitary reasons. This product by Philips AVENT is a good product for this task. It should be noted that all the bottles and breast pump we have is by Medela and there was a concern that they won't be compatible with this steamer. However In addition

  • Title: Great news for new mothers

My grandaughter used this last night and it was so easy. She is such a germ freak that she sometimes scares me but she said she loved the fact that this was so easy AND so sterile. She told her husband she was going to town today and getting one of these and throw their other one away. She washed the babies bottles and put them into this and put it in the microwave and in no time at all had safe and clean bottles. She also liked the fact that she could sterilize the bottles and leave them in for 24 hours without contamination. This is according to the "germ freak" the best thing since cotton candy.

  • Title: Sterilizes, Easy to Use, but not so compact

First off, this is a great idea and worth having. Our dishwasher broke last week, and this came just in time. We use bottles regularly for pumped breast milk (gives me a part in the feeding process and for when the grandparents or others are sitting). Our attempts to wash the bottles in the sink just never came out as clean as we'd like. Certainly not sterilized clean. This steam sterilizer adds an extra amount of protection It couldn't be easier to use. Put a bit of water in the bottom tray. Put the middle tray over it. Stack the bottles That's all there is to it. Steam is a great sterilizer and this steams quickly and easily. It holds a fair number of smaller bottles Even nicer The only possible issue is size. We have a .9 cubic foot microwave and this just fits. Any smaller microwave and it won't fit. As is for us it works great."

Having a young one or more keeps you busy. Sometimes not everything gets done. But of course you always want to get safety done no matter once. Well the Philips sterilizer makes it much easier to have the peace of mind of sterilizing bottles and nipples. It uses a microwave Be sure to check your wattage. Ours is a 1000 watt so it takes 4 minutes in

  • Title: Good product

This is a good product, easy to follow directions and easy to use. It is rather large, so if you don't have the extra space, this might not be the best choice. And since it is designed for the Avent products, I would not recommend it for other brands of bottles.

  • Title: ;0)

Very convenient, but it depends on the individual who will be using this product. It was easy as it went in the microwave to be sterilized. I think it is a little better than the stove making life a tiny bit easy. The only thing I will say is that if you have banned a microwave from your house because of the plastic with the heating, I'm trying to figure out more research on this but so far it seems safe. So far.

  • Title: Easy and quick way to sterilize baby bottles.

Keeping baby bottles sterilized is very important to prevent illnesses and infections. Philips Avent Microwave Steam Sterilizer provides a quick and easy way to achieve that. Likes: >Easy to follow instructions with diagrams at the front and back of the owner's manual. Sterilizes in 2 to 6 minutes depending on microwave wattage. >Designed specifically for Philip Avent bottles but similarly sized >There's even a mini plastic tongs to remove the hot sterilized bottles/parts. >Water is microwaved to higher temperature than dishwashers so 99.9% of harmful microbes are killed (manufacturer claim). My gal and I prefer to use distilled water to minimize residue buildups from tap water. >Bottles/parts remain sterilized for 24 hours if lid isn't opened. >Reasonable price of $29.09 from Amazon (at time of review). Dislikes: >With a diameter of 11in. and height of 6.6in. >According to our pediatrician >Although made from BPA free plastic Bottom Line: A time saver and provides peace of mind to parents concerned about contaminated feeding bottles. More effective and faster in sterilization bottles/parts than using OXO Tot Dishwasher Basket ."

  • Title: Simple!

We don't have a dishwasher, and it's tough to know that bottles and nipples are sufficiently sterilized. I am thankful that this Avent sterilizer is simple to use. I don't always get to the microwave right away when they're finished (a lot can happen in 5 minutes!) As I expect from baby items these days

  • Title: Excellent, easy to use sterilizer

This sterilizer is replacing my old Avent model that is several years old. I love the ease and convenience of being able to sterilize bottles in the microwave as opposed to boiling them on the stovetop. This product allows the user to quickly and easily sterilize baby bottles with little trouble. I use Avent brand bottles, therefore the bottles fit easily into this sterilizer, but it is sized so that most bottles should fit in it with ease. The only drawback to this item is that it is large. I wouldn't say that it is huge, but it does barely fit into the small microwave in our camper, but it fit easily into our microwave at home. I love this item because of the simplicity of it, there are no electrical components to worry with, and it is a cinch to clean. I would suggest this sterilizer to anyone.

  • Title: Easy but Bulky

This is a great sterilizer. Super easy to use, and that it doubles as storage is really nice. My ONLY issue with it is the size. It is quite bulky. I'd rather it be smaller and have to use it more frequently than have it be as large as it is. I live in a manhattan apartment. This sterilizer takes up a full bigger shelf in a cupboard or a substantial amount of space on a countertop If space is not at a premium for you

  • Title: Easy Sterilizer

We don't use a sterilizer very often, but when we do, this one is quite easy to use. For travel it's easier to use the bags (somewhat disposable items), but this works good at home. Added benefit of keeping things sterile 24 hours if you don't open it up. You can also use it as storage to attempt to declutter your counters of all the bottle related items."

  • Title: Great product

I bought this shortly after my daughter was born when it became clear to me that I needed an easy way to reliably clean bottles, pacifiers and breast pump parts. I compared this to Philips AVENT 3-in-1 Electric Steam Sterilizer and ultimately decided on this product for the following reasons: (1) cost; (2) I didn't want to have another appliance around that had to be plugged in A few reviews mention that this is a large product It seems quite effective I'm very impressed with this product."

  • Title: So far so good

Its a great sanitizer/steamer solution. Its quick and easy but one word of caution for parents who think this will clean your baby items. It doesnt, so make sure you clean all the residue off bottles, nipples, etc... before you sanitize them!

  • Title: Used my first one for 16.5 years! Great item!

I purchased my first AVENT Microwave Steam Sterilizer in 1996, it was wonderful and helped tremendously when I pumped my milk and went back to school as a science teacher. Little did I know then just how good the product is. I am a science research teacher and my students have used my first AVENT since my son was weaned to sterilize glass and plastic items in my micro lab. Today, my first sterilizer finally bit the dust and I am now purchasing a new one. Wait till the kids find out they will only need to wait 2 minutes instead of 10 for their beakers, test tubes and graduated cylinders! I have had students who tested the sterilizer to see if it really did sterilize their equipment and every time the sterilizer came through. We don't think it is too big, we think it is just right.

  • Title: Works well, doesn't fit products securely

This product works well for sterilizing. We use it almost every day. However, we have only AVENT bottles and accessories, yet they do not fit properly into this sterilizer. They always fall down and get loose. I wish it was easier to fit multiple pieces securely into this.

  • Title: works well, large and supports advent bottles well

OK.. As a guy, you usually don't care about bottles for babies... but I've really appreciated the quality of the AdventAir bottles because they are easy to assemble and much easier to clean than a traditional bottle. Phillips went the extra mile offering a microwave based steamer made for these bottles. Very simple to add the bottles and the water, nuke them in the microwave, and were done. My wife also uses this to steam the bottles from her pump. After going through the older tech and using a boiling water part, steaming is much easier and gives you the clean feeling for the bottle so that your tyke is not getting any unwished bacteria from unsterilized bottles. Don't forget to steam the binkies too..

  • Title: The easiest way to sterilize

We couldn't be happier with the Philips AVENT Microwave Steam Sterilizer – it seems todo its job flawlessly and quickly (especially if you have a high-power microwave -- 1200+ watts gets it done in 2 minutes). The only tiny issue is that the manual stresses that you need to use 7 ounces of water to sterilize – and that more or less could damage the sterilizer or ruin the sterilization process. If it's that critical, how about giving us an obvious fill-line? But, really, that's just a small issue. It's a time-saver and it really encourages keeping everything clean/sterile because of how easy it makes the process.

  • Title: very convenient

Easy to use, fits most of the bottles and pumping accessories (we used both avent bottles and medela pump). The only thing is you have to shake the bottles very well after steamed it

  • Title: Works

Works very well. But only for small and short bottles, 4 or 5 oz, big bottles cannot be put in.

  • Title: Works well, even with Dr Browns

We switched to Dr Brown's bottles shortly after buying this sterilizer, but it has worked well for over 3 months of twice daily use. Now that we are moving on to the larger bottles it will no longer do the job, due to the height of the bottles. I don't blame the manufacturer for that though, as I am using different bottles than were intended. Be careful taking it out of the microwave and removing the lid. The steam is HOT! (it is steam!!)"

  • Title: So far so good

Got it last month. We're using this sterilizer in comination with bottles from Dr. Brown. Although the bottles and accesseries can not stand all the way after microwave, we are quite satisfied with its space that could easily fit in at least four bottles at the same time. And it's pretty easy to use. The bottom line is that this gives us additional peace of mind for the health of our baby!"

  • Title: 2 minutes and you're sterilized!

We are formula feeding and so we have bottles growing out of our ears. Even though we rinse with hot water and soap first, this takes just two minutes in the microwave and everything is sterilized. We wanted the plug in one first but we have hard water and read a bunch of reviews saying it will break. I'm glad we got this one in the end. It is a bit bulky to have out as it dries

  • Title: Time saver

Before we found this product we used to boil all the bottles, nipples, and accessories in a pot full of water, which would take about 10-15 minutes, plus the time it takes for it to cool down and take all the stuff out. With the Sterilizer its as easy as 1-2-3, We load up the sterilizer with the bottles and nipples, add water and place it in the microwave, and 2 minutes later the bottles are sterilized. We still rinse the bottles out before we load them in the sterilizer just as a precaution, but the sterilizer works great and saves us a lot of time, worth every penny. Definitely recommend.

  • Title: Phillips Avent Microwave Steam Sterilizer

I gave this product a three because that is what I felt it deserved. The product takes up as much space as a dinner plate; I had to rearrange the items in my kitchen in order to store it, it now rests of top of my refridgerator. The product works well, it safely sterilizes bottles, nipples, and the parts for my breast pump but as far as the bottles are conconcerned if you have long/tall bottles they will not fit inside unless you lay them flat. Those are my only problems with this product, the price was ok but it would probably be cheaper to buy it in-store; it cuts out the extra shipping and handling fees.

  • Title: Easy to use

My breastfeeding class recommended against a sterilizer because it is not necessary. However, my overly-cautious pediatrician father highly recommended a sterilizer. This one is VERY easy to use and can fit multiple bottles. I am currently at home and use 5-6 bottles at a time (Medela thin bottles). This one fits them perfectly. It takes 2 minutes to sterilize in the microwave, and you leave it in for 2 more mins after. So easy! I like this product and recommend it for purchase if you don't have over 6-7 bottles at a time.

We have used this since our first child was born more than 11 years ago. I always make sure I have one when a new baby is born, because it is so easy to use. Our first child had trouble with thrush, so the sterilizer was very important. We never had trouble again when we used this sterilizer. I like to give these to families having babies. I don't think people realize how handy it is to be able to just pop it in the microwave and walk away.

I didn't think I'd use one of these but I picked this one up just in case. I really like this product. It's easy to use and has a large capacity. It's a time saver for sure. I even found multiple uses for the lid. For example, when I do wash bottles I will use the lid instead of filling the whole sink full of water.
