Product Details

The extra soft, naturally shaped AVENT nipple makes it easier to switch between breast and bottle feeding, and promotes healthy, active feeding. The built-in valve flexes with babys natural feeding rhythm and lets baby control the flow of milk, which can help reduce the risk of overeating and spit-up. The valve also prevents a vacuum from forming in the bottle to keep air out of babys tummy. This reduces colic and gas after feeding.Slow Flow Rate is ideal for babies who are 1m+ or breastfed babies of all ages.

  • Title: Avent Variable Nipples Are A Life Saver!

The Avent Variable Flow Nipples allow formula mixed with cereal to pass through the nipple hole with ease. At a baby's young age, when the flow must still be relatively slow, you can turn the nipple so the Number I that's embossed in the nipple is lined up with the baby's mouth. This allows the formula mixed with cereal to still pass through the nipple hole easily, but doesn't cause the baby to choke due to the formula flowing too quickly. As your baby gets older, you can turn the nipple in his mouth so the Number II is lined up with the baby's mouth and this allows for a quicker flow, and, ultimately to the Number III "setting". The only two negative things I can say about these nipples is that (1) you can't find them in any store. After finding the initial two packs of nipples in a popular baby store, I had to buy the next two packs over the Internet. They weren't available in any store. And (2), there are no instructions with the nipples to explain how the variable flow works and how the numbers correlate with the rate of the flow.

  • Title: The next best thing!

When my daughter was born I planned to strictly breasfeed her for the first month at least. However, complications from jaudice forced us to introduce the bottle on her 5th day of life. The Avent system with the Newborn Nipple allowed us to provide her with both expressed breastmilk and formula supplements with ease. Since then I've tried other bottles & nipples. Nothing compares to the gentle flow of the Avent Nipple which feeds her at just the right pace to avoid gas and spitting up later. We now use nothing but!

  • Title: foster mother and mother of over 90 infants

I can't begin to tell you how impressed I was to find the avent variable flow nipple and how easily it worked for the cereal thickened formula. In the past, I have had to play with nipples and makes the holes bigger and then buy new nipples or make the formula thicker because I made the holes too big. The variable flow nipple was a real thrill to work with. I discovered this when my daughter chose this brand bottle to supplement her breast feeding. The breast feeding was unsuccessful and she had to go to bottle feeding. However, the baby had reflux and every other bottle came back up. Knowing that the hole size cannot be adjusted in the silicone nipple, I called the company and was told about the variable flow nipple. The only disappointment at this time is that this nipple cannot be found for the disposable bottle. It would be wonderful if you made this nipple available for this bottle also. I will be sure to share this new knowledge with the agency I foster for, all the moms will be thrilled to hear about this.

  • Title: Just what we needed!

My little one is a serious spitter. At four months our pediatrician recommended we thicken his milk (both formula and expressed breast milk) with cereal, and it works great! The variable flow nipple is the only nipple I have found that lets through the thickened milk. At first we used the slow flow (I) position of the nipple and now we use the fast flow (III) position. I like that this nipple grows with my baby and we do not have to buy new nipples every couple of months. Unfortunately, Avent does not have a variable flow nipple for the disposable system. I further found the variable flow nipples hard to find. A lot of baby stores do not sell them. I was happy to see that I could by them on this website!

  • Title: Supplementing with Bottles

I am the mother of a four month old daughter and a four year old son. I am using the Avent bottles and nipples to feed my daughter expressed breast milk when I cannot be there to nurse her. The slower flow of the newborn nipples is as close to breastfeeding as one can get with a bottle, according to my lactation consultant. My daughter has no problem switching back and forth, which makes my husband's life a lot easier when it comes time to feed her! Both the bottles and the nipples are bigger and easier to wash. We have been very pleased.

  • Title: Becoming a good Eater

my son was a very fussy bottle eater. He would never finish his bottle until I switched to a faster flow nipple. Now he finishes his bottle and is a much happier eater. He became frustrated that the milk wasn't coming out fast enough for him and with the faster flow it was perfect. He is much more content after a feeding and more relaxed. Now we are both much happier and look forward to each feeding.

  • Title: saves money

When my 2month little boy started on rice in his bottle I must have gone through 15 playtex nipples just trying to get the hole cut not to big not to small I had enough. I went to the avent web site and it was advertising a thicker flow nipple, so I changed bottles, and got these nipples. They saved me money, (not only on nipples but on liner)but most important no more upset stomics from eating too fast for my little one.

  • Title: Not practical

I tried this nipple when my son was 4 month and was extremely disappointed with the nipple. The flow was way to fast for a 4 month old unless each feeding needed cereal to be added. But at 4 month a lot of babies do not need cereal to be added to the milk. Also as for the 1,2 and 3 level, who has the time and eye sight to look for it during middle of the night feedings. One item I will never use again.

  • Title: Good Nipples, Mediocre Classification System

I really like Avent's versatility; the nipples, spouts, cups, bottles and handles can all be used interchangeably. I don't like the way they classify their nipples. Each nipple has 3 classifications. I wish they would only use one classification system because it can be quite confusing if you go to buy different nipples.1.) flow2.) baby's age3.) a number Also FYI: They are number 3 for 3+ months."

I am the Grandmother to 2 infants and 1 toddler. One of the infants lives in our household and I can state that Avent is at the top of my list when it comes to bottles and nipples. No excess gas is produced, no bags to fuss with and have to toss away, clean up is simple just as mixing the formula is simple. No extra parts to have to put inside the bottle and try to remember if you are supposed to boil them or just wash them. I love Avent.

  • Title: Fantastic for hungry babies and thicker liquids.

This is quite ingenious! I don't know if any other manufacturers have them, but they are such a great idea. Instead of a hole there is a slot in the top. Around the side are the marks I,II and III. You line up the marks with the baby's nose and that dictates how fast the flow of milk is. This teat allows a thicker liquid to flow through so you can add rice or another cereal of your choice if you need to. My baby is in the 90th percentile and at 8 weeks old Milk just wasn't enough. I put 1 tablespoon of rice in with 4 ounces of milk initially and then later on increased that to 2 tablespoons (all with doctor's approval). It is a much thicker liquid but flowed through this teat easily. I highly recommend these.

I'm a first time mother of twins that are so different. One likes to drink his milk fast and quick they other takes his time. At first I had all types of different holes in the nipples some would be too big for one baby or too small for the other. This nipple is the BEST! IT'S PERFECT! It has 3 different ways of flow feeding, so it works with both my boys. I replaced every nipple I had with these. TOTALLY THE BEST NIPPLE!"

I purchased the wrong size as I have a 5mo. and he is not ready for 3 holes, so I ended up at Target buying the 2 hole. I found these same nipples much cheaper in Target after I purchased these...no waiting, no shipping cost. I will save the 3 holes for when he gets a little older.

this product is a good one, but the seller shipped me the wrong nipples, not the ones advertized, (I wanted the cereal nipples which are a #3), I notified him of the error, he told me it was a mistake in the description and to ship them back to him at MY expense and he would replace them. Needless to say I didnt, I just went out and bought the correct nipples. Unsatisfied with this transaction, as well as a few other internet transactions.

  • Title: Avent Newborn flow nipples

I ordered these nipples because they are the next step up from the one hole newborn nipples. I waited until my baby was 5 weeks old to use these because I thought the flow might be too much for her. She didn't have any problem with them as they are still slow. They probably speed up feeding time by 5 or 10 minutes. The baby has had no problem with Avent bottles and nipples. Sometimes they leak so you have to check them before you give them to baby. The remedy is simple...just unscrew the nipple holder and screw it back in and make sure it is tight. I would definitely recommend avent nipples and bottles. These nipples probably aren't a necessity, but they do get the baby used to a quicker flow.

  • Title: would get the variable flow nipples instead

I love all the avent products so far but in the future I think I would just order the newborn nipples and then the variable flow nipples. My son used the newborn initially but by the time he was a month or two old, the slow flow nipples were already too slow for him. Each baby is different so some of this is trial and error, but the variable flow gives you several options in one.

  • Title: great for my newborn son

These nipples made the transition from breast to bottle very easy for my newborn son. We first tried bottles with him when he was about 4 weeks old and still unable to handle a fast flow. He didn't have any trouble figuring out the new nipples and while we made sure to burp him often during the feeding, didn't have a lot of gas either. The only thing I would mention is that he didn't stay on this nipple very long as he was ready within another month for a faster flow. Also, the Avent bottles that I ordered (4 oz) all came with these nipples so I really didn't need extras. I've changed to the variable flow nipples for him now.

  • Title: Best for Breastfed Babies

I was using the born free bottles with their level 1 nipple. My son has acid reflux and we noticed that sometimes he was almost choking on the milk as it was coming out of the bottle. When I returned to work, my mom thought the milk was coming out too fast when she was feeding him and that was why he was fussy on it, so I bought two of these and tried them the next day-- HUGE difference, no fussiness. When I compared the streams of the two nipples, the avent is MUCH slower which is great for breastfed babies because they suck a lot harder. Also, he can take a rest and make the flow completely STOP like he can when he is breastfeeding. Also, the top of the nipple is more flat like an actual breast. These nipples fit perfectly on the born free bottles (I like that they are glass). My son and I are very happy campers.

  • Title: Nipples tear while washing

At the tip of the nipple are the 1,2,3,or 4 holes and there is a circle around them. This circle pops out when there is too much pressure applied while washing. Now I am assuming it is ripping out while I wash them (I use a bottle brush and apply pressure on the inside of the nipple pushing a lot of soapy water through the little holes). However, what's interesting is that this has only happened to the #4 nipples. You would think it would have happened to the other ones too since they have even fewer holes. I am assuming the tip is popping out while I wash because it would kill me to think it is ripping out while the baby is sucking on it and she could choke on it. It has now happened to 6 nipples!!! And the first 3 I didn't discover until after she was drinking from them and had a geyser of formula being fed to her. I should add that when I went to buy a replacement packet of #4 nipples (there are 2 in a packet) And have you notice how the bottles always leak. I found this dad's blog with instructions and pictures to make sure they don't leak [...] If my assumption is correct that the tips are coming out while being washed (and not while the baby is sucking on them)

My son does well with the Avent products. The flow is fast enough for him (before this we tried another nipple...can't remember the name...but it was the fast flow, but just not fast enough). We use this with the Avent bottles that have the extra little attachment that connects with the nipple to prevent leaks. So far, so good!

  • Title: definitely let air out of bottle (vs into baby)

These nipples definitely let the air out of the bottle (vs into my baby) - I can hear it escaping. And he's less likely to suck the nipples flat like he's now doing with other brands (Medela & Dr Brown's). However, sometimes when I put the bottle together it leaks. (I never had this problem with the Medela bottles.) So pros and cons, but overall very good.

We have been using Avent products for both of our children without problems. They are great products. I wish they had BPA-Free products earlier. I bought this two fast flow nipples because the store near us does not have BPA-Free ones. However, when I received them from mail, I did not find anywhere on the package says BPA-Free. I thought there should be somewhere says BPA-Free. Usually the BPA-Free products has a little bit yellow color than the regular ones. I bought a lot of these nipples before my son was born thinking that they would be all that I would need. But the level 1 is much too fast for a newborn. Level 1 in variable nipples are comparable to stage 2 slow flow nipples. Now at 5 months we are finally starting to use the variable nipples on level 1. Finding the "1" in the early morning hours is more of a pain than I thought it would be. Our son is starting to hold his own bottle, which makes it hard to keep the "1" pointing towards his nose. And using the variable nipples for daycare is not very realistic, so we are still purchasing some of the stage nipples to send on his daycare bottles. In retrospect

I'm trying to breast feed and sometimes he just gets impatient with me (I have a low supply) and wants the bottle. Sometimes I oblige depending on how loud he is and how tired I am. The avent system is designed to not totaly seal to the bottle so it can vent through the ring instead of through the holes at the business end of the nipple. They sort of relyed on the fact that you can make something liquid tight but not air tight. The problem with this is when you are shaking the bottle in order to mix the formula with the water 50% of the time you will have a leak. Also when you tilt the bottle to put it in your childs mouth you will sometimes have a small gush of milk from the ring. I have tried several different things to prevent this. i have assembled it wet Update: We have been having extreme issues with these bottles/nipples. I use the Philip Avent feeding system (bottle, nipple, steam sterilizer) and everything worked well. My daughter did not experience any colic so I guess the so-called colic reducing features do work. We used size 1, 2 and 3 nipples and did not have any problems with them. I didn't switch to size 4 until she is 7 months old, and we started having problems with major spit-ups and nipples collapsing during feeding, which is not suppose to happen. I was not sure if the flow is too fast for her or we got nipples that are defected. I thought size 4 should be ok for her since it's intended for infants 6 months+, but after talking to the nurse at our pediatrician's office, we decided to switch back to size 3 nipple. It's been a week and she did not have any more spit-ups. I don't know if this is enough to come to any kind of conclusion on the product or it's simply that my daugher is going through a phase. So, although I am pleased with the Philip Avent products overall, my experience with the size 4 nipple has not been great.

Being the cheapskate that I am, tried extending the nipples of my daughter's Avent system by puncturing additional holes. This worked for a few weeks but the additional punctures extended the hole so bad that it was not able to control the flow of milk. Come this wonderful replacement. The price is cheaper than in other stores and the holes stay on its own. The baby sure loves it. No more worries.

  • Title: Good bottle nipple

This is a good bottle nipple which of course fits the phillips avent bottles. Even though this is a slow flow nipple my 3 month old baby did and still at 4 months does struggle with it on occasion for being too fast. In our case there's also a little bit of nipple preference so I am not sure that it is entirely the nipple's fault (as in not being slow enough). Perhaps in another month or two we'll revisit this review.

I used Avent bottles for my son, who is now 6 and have purchaed them for my new addition. I like them, but sometimes they leak. The bottles that I had from my first son are clearer than the ones I just purchased, so I guess they use a different plastic now, which is fine, but my friend said that they look "dirty" and believe me I clean my bottles after every use. I don't know why they changed, but it doesn't make a difference to me. A bottle is a bottle. Babies are going to get gas and hiccups regardless which bottle the parents use.

I have a 4.5 month old and these newborn nipples are too fast for my breastfed baby. He guzzles a 4 ounce bottle in less than 5 minutes, which is HORRIBLE for a breastfed baby. He doesnt know when hes full and ends up spitting up a ton after feeds. He also ends up with an upset tummy and is extra gassy because of them. Since this is the slowest flow Avent offers, Ive had to look for new bottles. I wish they made slower flow nipples because I really do like the bottles.

  • Title: Make sure you utilized properly!

These nipples are FANTASTIC! I haven't seen them in stores and I was a little hesitant to buy but the good reviews were hard to resist. My doctor said I could start my daughter on rice cereal at 4 months. Spoon feeding was NOT cutting it. I had heard of people putting holes in the nipples of bottles to allow the rice cereal to move through, but you run the chance that you can't control the flow. So I purchased these and replaced the nipple that comes with the bottle. LOVE IT! She is no longer wanting to eat every 2 hours. She also is actually NAPPING longer. I know it's a myth but I have noticed a slight difference! A few things you MUST remember when using rice cereal 1) Experience shows mixing rice cereal with breastmilk you will have a thinner mix. As it sits gets thinner. Formula allows for a thicker mixture. 2) If your baby can't handle the flow of the liquid 3) Avent bottles: Biggest complaint is leaking. Have I had this happen to me? Yes. Have I fixed it? Yes. If you look at the nipple If you're bottle is leaking? Unscrew and try again. Test it by shaking the bottle over the sink (this saves you from messy babies!). If it STILL leaks Great thing I just found was these bottles? Philips AVENT 9 Ounce BPA Free Bottles There is an extra valve ring to help seal. If any of my bottles leak Also I don't use Avent bottles for ""newborns"" until like 1-2 months old (also I have established breastfeeding on both my children) so I can't speak to the size 1 flow nipple until that time period. I love the playtex dropins bit more expensive overall but I have NEVER had a leak Best of luck on bottle feeding!"

  • Title: Avent Variable Flow Nipples

Excellent product. Nipples are sturdy and work great for thicker fluids. Also helpful if baby is teething as they do not need to suck as hard to get fluid out preventing tender gums from more irritation. I also use Avent bottles and pacifiers. These too are well made products. I would highly recommend the variable flow nipples, rather than a DYI modification of regular nipples to accomodate thicker fluids, which usually only ends up damaging them.

I am an exclusive bfing mom, so when it got close to time to go back to work I started working with baby to take his milk from a bottle. I have always used the Avent brand. The nipple is wide enough for baby as to hopefully prevent nipple confusion. But when I tried giving my son a bottle he sucked a few seconds then started to cough. I started to play with the nipple by pointing it sideways and I barely squeezed it and the milk came out quite effortlessly. I also turned it upside down and instead of a slow drip is was a stream. After waiting a few days I tried my son again on the bottle with the other nipple and the same problem arose the milk was just coming out too fast. I ended having to use a different brand entirely. Now though at almost four months my little guy taked this nipple like a champ.

  • Title: Nipple too big for newborns!

We brought these nipples based on all the raving reviews and write up's online. However our newborn is now here and wasn't putting on enough weight. Our pediatrician told us these are the worse brand of bottles on the market for newborns and shouldn't be used until the baby is at least 5 months old. The reason for this is because the nipple is too large for a newborn to latch on to and they're unable to get enough. We are now using the Medela nipples instead and he's feeding so much better.

  • Title: Much better than slicing your #4 with a knife...

A number 4 nipple didn't seem to work for my son once we started adding cereal to the formula. At first, we tried creating a small slit at the hole with a razor, but that was just not precise enough and the slit would grow and tear quickly with use. I'm sure there are a lot of parents who have gone through this frustrating process. After discovering that (surprisingly) no such product was available at the store, I was lucky to find it on Amazon. Since then, it's been the only nipple that works for us - one of those "indispensable" baby items to remember.

  • Title: Great nips!

My son is 10.5 months and was on the variable flow nipple from about 6-10 months old so we could add a little rice cereal for his "reflux" (which turned out to be food allergies). At about 9 months (with no rice cereal) he started collapsing the variable speed nips. On a frustrated whim, I ordered the fast flow ones. Although they were rated for 6 months, I had to try something. They are GREAT! He's used them for about 2 weeks and he no longer collapses the nips and eats at a better speed. Wish I'd thought of trying this sooner! (As a note: My only gripe is that we do have to line up the nipples properly or they leak. But I had done this with his size 1 and 2 nipples when he was smaller, so knew immediately how to correct this. So, I am still rating these 5 stars because they are serving my purpose.)

I love Avent bottles & nipples for my baby who was 2mo premature. He responded well to them & even breast fed while taking a bottle with these nipples. We had other issues that interfered with breast feeding, but it had nothing to do with this system. I would highly recommend Avent products & these specific nipples. I did read the few comments that mentioned leaking & if you forget to put the ring on the bottle, it will leak...if it's there, I've never had an issue at all. Of course, I don't shake the bottles vigorously, as I don't find it necessary when mixing formula for the occasions I do use it for. I do; however, have a very active boy who turns his head on a dime whenever he hears something & often knocks the bottle around...still, never had a problem with leaking.

He was eating anywhere from 30 to 120 cc before, now he is eating 150+ because he isn't expending all his energy trying to breathe and suck at the same time. It's also cut down on the amount of time it takes to feed him. Have not noticed more spit up or gas with the level 3 compared with the level 1. Wish I had started using these earlier but all the nurses and doctors recommended using the Preemie nipple!

  • Title: I REGRET BUYING MAM BOTTLES

Any bottle nipple, no matter the hole size, is going to be too fast for a breastfed baby - even this one at first. BOTTLE NIPPLES give baby CONSTANT FLOW, whether they're sucking or not. On the breast, however, baby has nearly full control of how much and how fast milk comes out. It's why the Ameda breast pump ( Ameda Purely Yours Breast Pump ) gives you a 'Cycle' option. You start out fast - just as your baby does when they first latch on - to allow for the milk let-down. Then I regret buying the MAM bottles ( MAM 3-Pack BPA Free Bottle ) after I learned how easy the Avent bottles are. The MAM bottles work as intended None of these issues exist with the Avent bottles. An extra ring is nothing compared to the base parts of the MAM bottles. Popping the lid on and off the Avent bottles is also another easy thing compared to MAM. When you're juggling a crying baby and a bottle at once As an added bonus

  • Title: Wonderful nipple when used properly!

I'm not the type to write reviews but this product warranted one. I also wanted to clear up some confusion. As another reviewer previously stated, please do not rate this product badly when you clearly are using it wrong. As with all Avent nipples, there is a fine, almost invisible line on the edge of the nipple. The proper way to position the nipple on the white screw ring is to make sure the fine line lands between the gap of the three screw lines under the white screw ring..got it? So if you're done cleaning the nipple and you're ready to put the nipple through the screw ring, make sure the line on the nipple lands in the gap of the screw lines under the screw ring. After you position the nipple On to the variable flow nipple... My son has severe reflux and the doctors at the hospital where he went after a scary incident said to add rice to his cereal and to cut the tops of the nipples so the breast milk would flow easier. This worked for approximately two months until the holes became so wide because of the cleaning that my son started to choke on his milk. I found these nipples and they work great! The flow (when the III mark is towards his nose) is fast enough where my son doesn't get frustrated when sucking but not so fast that he chokes on the milk. My gripes? They're expensive."

I purchased these because the regular nipples on my wide-neck Dr. Brown bottles have too fast of a flow for my 3 week old (side note: these fit the Dr. Brown's wide-neck bottles perfectly). These Avent #1 nipples have the same problem: they are just too darn fast. My son choked on the milk from his bottle when we used these because the milk was pouring into his mouth. I see that some other reviewers with newborns have loved this nipple. I guess every infant's needs are different.

This nipple is really good. I got my first ones with the 4oz bottles in a set I got for my shower. We tried it with my baby during her 1st months and she actually liked the nipple thought at first it seems the 1 hole flows fast thank she could take but eventually, she caught up with it. She's still using this nipple until now that she's 4 months old since the 2 holes seems to fast for her still. We bought two packs of this to use for our other avent bottles and they all go through sterilization daily and each nipple gets used around 3 times a day. And after 4 months of use and sterilization, they still look like new. So i'm really impressed with the quality. I like that its has engraved markings too on two sides of the nipple so its easier to see the number so i don't confuse it with the other 2 hole nipples i've got. I've had my baby try other nipples and bottles and avent bottles and nipples has been her favorite.

I'm glad they had these already set up for thicker milk instead of having to make other nipples holes large enough for thicker milk. The only problem I had with these nipples is the info on how to use them was not very helpful cause all it says is to turn nipple for different flow rates. There is 3 flow rates and what you have to do is line the flow rate you want with the babies nose. My son is using flow rate 1 so the single line I line it to his nose do the milk does not come out too fast. I do recommend these nipples for thicker milk :)

But we are still using these nipples just might switch him sooner if he starts to collapse the size he is in so he won't have to suck so hard or get another blister.

  • Title: Great idea!

My granddaughter is eating baby food now, but for the more runny foods, I find it much easier to mix the food with formula & give it to her in a bottle. I also mix cereal and feed it this way, especially first thing in the morning, when she is impatient to eat. I had a difficult time cutting holes in the regular nipples to allow proper flow of this mixture. It ended up flowing either too fast or not fast enough. This nipple works great, because as she is nursing, I can simply turn the bottle to the best spot for the perfect flow. What a great idea! Happy baby makes Grandma happy!

  • Title: Best Bottle and Nipple

We love Philips Avent bottles and nipples. They are easy to use and easy to clean. It was easy to switch my son from Dr. Browns to this.

  • Title: Stock up, the bottles have changed design

I love the ease of the avent bottles for feeding, cleaning, transporting.....everything. When I found out the bottle design changed, I didn't want to have to re-buy all new bottles ( because the nipple design changed to fit and perform with the new bottle too). I went to several local stores that were already sold out so came here to stock up. I bought all the sizes I will need in the future. Also, these nipples fit in the avent trainer sippy cups. This is great for my little one since he didn't understand how to use the spout on the one that came with the cup.

  • Title: Good for breastfed babies

My baby likes these nipples, and they actually work better than the Newborn nipples. My baby always gags and gets too much from the newborn size, but she has no problems at all with these.

I used the Phillips bottles when my son was still drinking from bottles and bought some of these extra nipples as the others eventually wore out.

  • Title: Does the job

It's a nipple for a bottle. How fabulous should it be? It doesn't leak, so that's appreciative. Comes clean relatively easily.

  • Title: Does the job

My daughter has been using the Breast Flow bottles and nipples, but we were given one of these bottles as a gift. Our daughter now uses both. The only thing I've found is, we have to replace the nipples more often (but it could be because she is teething). They are a little difficult to get clean, as they are narrow.

  • Title: So So on the Flow

My son is breastfed and sometimes takes a bottle of pumped milk when i am away...the variable flow nipples seem to flow the same no matter which side you hold it on (I,II or III). I have used the other nipples (1, 2,3) and the flow seems to be slower than the variable. Milk just goes everywhere ....i think i will hold off on using the variable flow nipples until he is a bit older....great concept, they just didn't work as great as i thought they would.

  • Title: Great for breasted babies

I still use these nipples for my 1 year old when I have to pump from time to time and he's never had any issues with them. They work great and are very reasonable. Love Avent!!

  • Title: My baby will not use any other!

I moved up from newborn flow to this next size at 3 months old and he's here to stay! He's now 7 months and he won't take any other flow size, which I've tried several other at different times. I've purchased this slow flow avent nipple three times now, I'm happy if my baby is. As far as the product itself, we use each nipple two to three times daily and it lasts a good three month, just like the packaging recommends to change it.

  • Title: Didn't work for us

Bought this nipple because we wanted to use AVENT bottles to feed our child a formula+cereal mix. Unfortunately, no matter what "setting" we used, the liquid would drip our of our child's mouth.

  • Title: Great quality

I love all of Avent products! These nipples are of great quality. My 4 months old daughter is using them now since she outgrew the 4 Months nipples too fast!!!!

  • Title: The flow is much faster than I anticipated

I nursed my daughter for the first 6 months, so she had a little trouble adjusting, but this flow was really rather fast for a "medium" flow nipple.

  • Title: Good price

It's a good price for what you get. Highly recommend the newborn flow for breastfeeding mothers irregardless of the age of their baby. I have twin 11 month olds and was using a size 2 nipple before getting the newborn flow and it's been much better- easier transition from bottle to breast.

  • Title: Less Durable than Other Flow Sizes

This is our first baby, so everything is 100% new to us, but overall, the Avent feeding system has been a real winner. However, I can't go above three stars for this particular component of the system. I've noticed that this size (""fast flow"" / four-holes / 6+ months) tend to wear out and break before the end of its service life. We didn't have the same problem with the other sizes We're going to stick with this size Avent nipples are made in England."

  • Title: Too fast for my newborn

Even for my 1-month old the flow is too fast for her. To be fair, other brands we've tried are still to fast for her. Might just be my baby is a particularly slow eater. We need to stop and go with her otherwise she spills all over herself or chokes.

  • Title: Great Product

I use these with my son, and he seems to love them. The slow flow are the #2 nipples. He needed the newborn (#1) nipples until about 4-5 weeks. Up until that time he sputtered with these, and could only comfortably use the #1s, but now they are great. He doesn't get as many burps as with the other nipples I use when I'm out. Plus, with the other brands of nipples, he sucks the whole thing and rubs his lips on the hard plastic. These nipples flair out still in the silicone (or whatever), so he gets to press his lips up against it without getting irritated. With the Avent system, I just have to be sure to keep the rings tight enough, so the bottle doesn't leak all over the place. All in all, good stuff.

  • Title: good nipples!

  • Title: This good stuff

Love this product. I believe it really helped my daughters sucking reflexes. I am comparing this to another popular brand. When it came time for her to start eating she never pushed the food out of her mouth. I have used newborn thru 4 and love it and so does she. I will be using them for our next child.

This #2 nipple is the smooth transition after the newborn nipple. Don't buy nipples off the age of baby rather than what your baby is ready for.

  • Title: Best by far

I tried several different bottles and she pushes them away. Avent is the best by far. I received the newborn starter kits(2) for my baby shower and I was glad I did. I started with the #1 nipples but by the time she was 3 weeks old I had to change to the #2 nipple she was fighting with the #1's to get more and making a suction noise that made it sound like she would pull the nipple right off the bottle. First time I used the #2 she of course wasn't expecting it and sucked too hard and chocked a little but when she noticed she didn't have to work so hard she was fine. I highly recommend these bottles. I tried soothies and they cover her nose so she pushes them away, so not worth the money. Buy Avent!!!!!!

  • Title: good product, helps reduce gas & spit up

i bought these for my 7week old son to help reduce spit up. i feed him pumpde breast milk and some formula. he had lost weight right after he was born before my milk had come in so he got used to the fast rate of bottle feeding. i bought these because he would eat so fast from a faster feed nipple that he would often get gas and spit up. these helped him slow down eating and reduce gas and spit up
