Product Details

The Philips AVENT BPA-Free 4-Ounce Classic Bottle with Newborn-Flow Classic Nipple promotes the health and comfort of your baby. Whether you are breastfeeding, bottle feeding, or combining the two, this AVENT feeding bottle supports your choices. Developed using extensive research and clinical trials, this BPA-free bottle is proven to reduce fussiness* and colic**. Designed for infants younger than one month--but suitable for breastfed babies of all ages--the Classic bottle has a 4-ounce capacity and an extra-soft silicone Newborn-Flow Classic nipple with one hole, making it ideal for small feedings.

Clinically Proven to Reduce Fussiness* and Colic**
Clinically proven to reduce fussiness* and colic**, the Classic AVENT bottle helps your baby sleep well and digest properly. The bottle features a two-piece anti-colic system that consists of the AVENT nipple and adapter ring. As your baby feeds, the unique skirt on the nipple flexes to allow air into the bottle and prevents any vacuum build-up.

Listen for the gentle whistling sound and watch the air bubbles burst on the surface of the milk. That's your guarantee that the air is being released into the bottle--not into your baby's tummy.

Classic Newborn-Flow Nipple is Ideal for Breastfed Babies of All Ages
The AVENT Classic Newborn-Flow Nipple is a single-hole extra-soft silicone nipple intended for infants younger than one month, yet it can be used by breastfed babies of all ages. Working with your baby's natural feeding rhythm, the nipple lets your baby control the flow, more like breastfeeding, which can help reduce overeating and spit-up. Also, the nipple's natural shape promotes proper latch-on and makes it easier for your baby to switch between breast and bottle.

Works with Full Line of AVENT Pumps, Bottles, and Cups
Like all Classic AVENT bottles, this Classic Feeding Bottle works interchangeably with the entire line of Classic AVENT pumps, bottles, and cups. This 4-ounce bottle features a single-hole newborn-flow nipple. However, as your baby grows, you may use different AVENT nipple, bottle, and cup styles to meet your baby's changing needs.

If you prefer a different AVENT Classic nipple for the bottle, simply switch out the nipple for a Classic nipple with a different flow. Each nipple style is imprinted with a number, making it easy to identify and customize your AVENT bottle.

Easy to Clean and Use
This hygienic bottle is easy to clean and assemble, as there are no small parts. The dome cap securely seals the AVENT nipple to ensure leak-proof feeding, mixing, and travel without the need for separate sealing discs.

Shaped for stability and comfort, the bottle's wide shape makes it is easy to hold, while its wide-neck design makes filling a cinch. Clear markings on the bottle ensure accurate measurement and make it simple to determine how much your baby has eaten.

All components of the Classic Feeding Bottle are BPA free.

What's in the Box
Three Classic 4-ounce feeding bottles, three Classic caps, and three Classic newborn-flow nipples.

*A clinical study demonstrated that at two weeks of age, babies fed with the Classic AVENT bottle showed less fussing than babies fed with another leading bottle.
**At two weeks of age, babies fed with the AVENT bottle showed a trend to less colic than babies fed with a conventional bottle: Colic, Crying, Fussing & Feeding (A non-randomized, prospective observational study) by Alan Lucas, MD. Department of Pediatrics, University of Cambridge. November, 1994.

  • Title: No leaks!

I have been using Avent bottles for 2 1/2 years. With the original bottles (with BPA) we had occasional leaks of a few drops but otherwise we were very happy. When the orange-tinted BPA free bottles came out we got those, and had more leaks. In fact with #2 flow nipples the leaks were unbearable. We called Avent and they sent us 2 of these new polypropylene bottles to try before they were even in stores. The top of the bottle is a little shorter and there's an extra ring that you put onto the bottle before you put the nipple on. I have no idea how that helps, but it doesn't leak at all!! As soon as I saw them in stores I ran out and bought more. These bottles take the same nipples as the other Avent bottles

  • Title: they leak like crazy

I got these to replace my previously leaky Avent bottles, and they also leak. A lot. I'd never buy from Avent again, or use anything from Avent again. I threw these out and bought Dr. Browns.

  • Title: No leaks, but extra piece to keep track of!

These bottles are much better than the tinted bottles if you don't mind the extra "adapter" piece that goes around the collar of the bottle. We have two of them (and I just ordered 4 more) and use them all the time. They have yet to leak whereas the tinted bottles leak ALL the time!

  • Title: Go ahead and get the larger ones.

I love Avent bottles. My first used them after 6 months and I have started using them with my 3 month old. The problem is that they out grow the 4 oz so quickly. With these bottles being so expensive, it is worth it to start out with the 9 oz. I just ordered a bunch to get me through the next 7 months.

  • Title: Avent finally makes a leak-free BPA-free bottle!

For our first baby born in July '07, we used (and loved) the original Polycarbonate Avent bottles the first few months. Then the BPA paranoia overtook us, and we switched to Born Free bottles, which are made of honey-colored Polyether Sulphone (PES). The Born Free bottles worked well enough, but we hated the 2 extra complicated parts per bottle that we had to clean. For our second kid born in Sept '09, we wanted badly to switch back to Avent, but read poor reviews of the PES BPA-free Avent bottles (apparently they leaked for many users). Fortunately, right around that time, Avent introduced a second line of BPA-free bottles made of the cloudy Polypropylene (PPE), and initial reviews indicated that Avent fixed the leaks (by adding a simple removable collar between the bottle and nipple). After 1 month of using these new PPE Avent bottles, I can attest that they indeed don't leak, and I don't need to take special care or do any procedure to make them leak-free. They just don't leak. Yes, the newly added collar is an extra part to clean, but at least it's a simple part that's easy to clean. So for all you Avent fans out there, take heart! Avent fixed the leaks. Tip: the leaky PES honey-colored bottles come in yellow-colored boxes. The new leak-free PPE cloudy bottles come in blue-colored boxes. Buy the blue-colored boxes.

  • Title: no spit up, gas, or leak issues

We use Dr. Brown's bottles, and while they're wonderful there really are a lot of parts to clean and keep track of. Since I hand wash all of our bottles this can be a bit of a pain. The extra little ring is nothing in comparison when cleaning these bottles. If it's the difference between a gassy baby, or causing the bottle to leak, it's totally worth it to clean one tiny extra part. This is a great substitute for the Dr. Brown's bottles as the Avents work just as well for us.

  • Title: Used to love them....

I used to love these bottles. I have been a fan and user since 2001. However the leaks are really unbearable. I contacted Philips and they gave me a few "tricks" to try. I have 4 kids I don't have time for tricks. When my baby cries because she wants a bottle she is NOT going to wait until mommy can find the trick that will work this time. My daughter has been soaked one too many times. The last time was at her photo session which had me running to buy her another outfit because the one I had so carefully chosen was soaked. I am done. I found the new MAM BPA free bottles and they ROCK! Try them ;)

  • Title: no leak, better than the previous yellow-tinted bottles

we got the BPA-free, yellow-tinted avent bottles as a gift. like 50% of the reviewers said, they leaked like crazy (both 9-oz and 4-oz), and we wasted a lot of precious breast milk. i was really disappointed and upset, b/c the bottles were made of good quality plastic. however, if 50% of the bottles leak, then it is simply a design flaw, and should be removed from the shelves. we called avent and they sent us the new polypropylene bottles to try out. these work great! they don't leak at all, as long as the adapter ring is put on properly (and no need to make it too tight). since it's just one extra piece and relatively easy to clean, i have no problem w/ this design. another thing i like about the avent bottles is that the measurement print is large and easy to read. however, one thing to note is that on some of the polypropylene bottles, the paint comes off after washing a few times. i have three 4-oz bottles w/ no problem, but on two of my four 9-oz bottles (which were bought later), almost all of the paint has been rubbed off due to washing. i guess this is a hit and miss situation. thus the four star rating. we also tried dr. brown bottle. at first i liked it

There are alot of negative reviews for these bottles. Let me start by saying THESE DO NOT LEAK. There are two types of Avent bottles. 1 Leaks horribly and 1 doesnt. These do not. The ones that leak are the yellow box with golden nipples. These come in a blue box and have clear nipples. These bottles are great and we havent had any leaks yet. AVOID THE YELLOW ONES BUT BUY THESE!!!

  • Title: Horrible bottles, they leak

The bottles leak! When I complained at Avent's website, the response was that I should use some water around the nipple ring so the seal is tight. What kind of design is that? I've had several occasions where the milk leaked as soon it was tilted to go into the baby's mouth. It is very frustrating when you have to open the bottle and try re-sealing it several times while the baby is screaming. Besides the fact, it is annoying when breastmilk goes waste because of the bottle design. For what you pay for the bottles, I had expected better quality. I would definitely not recommend these bottles to any of my friends.

  • Title: These Don't Leak

After getting rid of my apparently BPA-full Avent bottles, I was on the market for a new bottle. I read horrible reviews about the Avent ones and looked at several other brands (with extra, complicated looking parts) and ended up giving the cloudy Avent bottles a try. Love them. Easy parts to wash and no leaks. Perfect.

  • Title: NO leaks for me!

It depends on the avent bottles you buy. These do not leak as they have an extra piece between the cap and the bottle. The avent bottles with a yellow tint do sometimes leak and it depends on how tight the lid is screwed on. These bottles however are wonderful.

  • Title: Disappointed

I love Avent bottles. I accidentally left one at a restaurant so I was replacing that. These are weird. The bottle neck isn't quite long enough so they put this little plastic thing as a stop gap. I don't like them and would have returned them but I used them before I realized how lame these are.

  • Title: Good but not great...

I originally bought about 10 of the honey colored Avent bottles and after about 5 months got so annoyed with the leaking I threw them all away. I then started to purchase these which don't leak at all so that's a major improvement. My only complaints are that the markings do chip away. Its not a problem for me yet as I do not make 9 ounce bottles but I assume it will be soon. Also the nipple tends to collapse which can be a bit annoying. In my opinion, this bottle is good (better than the honey colored Avent bottles), but The best bottle out there is definitely the Born Free Bottles and the Gerber Gentle Flow bottles (which by the way are the exact same thing as Avent bottles minus the ring and the peeling paint and way cheaper).

  • Title: This style does NOT leak.. the other type does...

Agree with other feedback - (1) the Adapter Ring - mentioned in the product description - is the design fix that prevents leaks - the tinted (honey/yellow) type leak something awful ..and in a random/unpredictable fashion - those are not worth the hassle they cause at 3 AM - get these instead - they have worked GREAT so far...also (2) the air bubbles get into the bottle and not into the baby - so you can prevent air from going into the baby by simply stopping the feed just before the last few drops.. works as advertised!!

  • Title: Good bottles

We have been using these bottles for 4 months now. No trouble with leaking, easy to clean, especially after I bought the avent brush. The baby doesn't seem to fuss as much afterward either, though that is relative I am sure. They were recommended to me by my lactation consultant because they are supposed to be more like real nipples. I don't know about that but I would recommend these to anyone. Just make sure you use with the right sized/flow nipples.

After all the BPA hoopla in the news, we decided to change all of our Avent non-BPA-free bottles to the BPA-free ones. Avent only had the honey colored bottles Philips Avent BPA Free Bottle at that time which leaked left and right. Sometimes if we just looked at the bottles We read the reviews about these bottles and everyone mentioned this new design was better and there were less leaks. They were right! We had avent bottles with our first they were the bpa kind. i was a little afraid that I would hate these with the one little extra part but I love them! No leaks and they little ring is not a problem at all. Make sure you read the directions I am sure the people who have had leak problems didnt read the directions. You have to put the ring on the bottle first then screw on the top.

i've read a lot of other reviews and most people don't have leak issues with the new avent bottles with the adapter ring. we do. there isn't a constant leak with every bottle but there seems to be random bottles that just start leak during feedings or while mixing formula. since the leaks have been driving me crazy i decided to try a different brand of bottle. we tried: ventaire, evenflo comfi, playtex orthipedic, nuby, and gerber. My son hated all of them. since he like the avent bottles, and we dont have any issues with spit up, gas, and fussiness. we decided to stick with avent.

  • Title: Great bottle.

You just have to make sure you screw the lid on tight enough. I have to admit that I've had them leak a few times when I didn't. That's my fault and not the bottle's. Make sure you get the ones in the blue box. I got two amber colored bottles included with my Philips AVENT BPA Free ISIS iQ Duo Twin Electric Breast Pump . They do leak horribly. These make for an easy transition between breast and bottle. The wide mouth makes her sucking look more like what she does on the breast than other bottles. It also makes them easy to clean. I like how the air enters the bottle under the ring and not through the nipple. She doesn't have to let go and let air enter. The bottle lets her keep sucking. That's a life saver considering my baby doesn't really like to eat and anything that interrupts her is a problem. Edit: After 4 months our daughter was still having gas problems. Our pediatrician suggested we try Dr. Brown's. We tried it and her gas problem was reduced drastically. Knowing what I know now

  • Title: Avent Bottles: Different Models Explained

Philips has done a fantastic job of confusing their line of Avent baby feeding bottles. It should be a simple matter to clearly name and describe a product such as this, but the reality is Philips has done it's best to complicate it. Why the confusion: Over the past 25 years Philips has changes the Avent product line every year. Recently changes involved removing BPA from all parts that touch baby food (note that their products aren't 100% BPA free - parts that don't touch baby food may still contain BPA). This change introduced problems with some of the products causing the Avent venting system to leak (more on this later). In addition ISN'T A BOTTLE JUST A BOTTLE? Recently Philips has made Avent bottles in several plastic materials: 1. Polycarbonate: this is a very hard and very clear plastic - it's properties closely match real glass and is commonly known by the brand name Lexan. For years almost all hard/clear food containers were made of polycarbonate plastic. Unfortunately 2. Polyethersulfone (PES): This rigid BPA free plastic hasn't traditionally been used in baby products because of the higher cost of the raw material. In addition 2. Polypropylene (PP): Also a BPA free plastic Avent bottles are currently available in PES and PP models. Many people still have the old Polycarbonate bottles which perform great (but contain BPA). LEAKS LEAKS LEAKS (AND THE MYSTERY OF THE ""ADAPTER RING"") Many people have reported leaking problems with the newer Avent bottles. There are a couple of factors why this is happening: The Avent system is designed to vent or let air into the bottle as baby feeds. This is achieved by having tiny slots cut into the base of the nipple. When baby sucks the nipple Many people have had issues maintaining a good connection between bottle and nipple with the PES (honey colored) bottles. This may be due to the bottle changing shape over time (particularly the impact of dishwasher washing). The polypropylene bottles have a different issue. Polypropylene is simply too flexible to maintain good contact between the nipple and bottle. Philips has solved this problem redesigning the shape of the bottle and including a ridged ""Adapter Ring"" with recent polypropylene bottles (I think that first generation PP kits did not have this part). The adapter ring fits onto the top of the bottle and provides a stable and strong base needed by the Avent nipples. The new bottle shape with the adapter ring installed mimics the size and shape of the old style bottle. It's a hassle Important: to prevent leaks you should assemble the bottle with nipple and adapter ring in place while it is wet! (read the manual). CLASSIC VS ADVANCED VS NATURAL FEEDING VS EXTRA DURABLE Philips seems confused with how to market Avent bottles. They have changed the name of Avent products over time and haven't done a good job differentiating between the polypropylene and PES bottles. Some Avent bottles are branded CLASSIC and ADVANCED. The ""Classic"" bottles are the milky colored Recently all Avent bottles have been branded NATURAL FEEDING - this additional name does not indicate which type of plastic the bottles are made of. SO PES OR PP? After trying both Remember to assemble your bottles properly (wet) and do not over tighten them. SHOPPING ON AMAZON Make sure you know which type of bottle you are getting. Unfortunately UPDATE 1 It is becoming harder to get anything but the ""classic"" (blue box) polypropylene (pp) bottles as it appears Phillips has recently withdrawn available inventories of all other bottles (i was talking to the manager of a local baby store who indicated they had to remove all Avent PES bottles and return them to Phillips). Still check to make sure you are getting the type of bottles you expect. UPDATE 2 - June 2011 I still see old PES bottles for sale but they are almost completely gone. The ""classic"" polypropylene (pp) bottles are now available in blue and pink tints. Another recent change - recently manufactured bottles have a slightly wider mouth - you can tell if you have this new generation of bottles if the adapter ring does not fit snuggly (and will not stay in the bottle if held upside down). Some people have ask what size nipples are included in the sets. 9 ounce bottle sets come with #2 nipples. 4 ounce bottle sets come with #1 nipples."

My daughter-in-law was using these with our granddaughter since she was born last June. They hold up well and don't leak (just make sure you have the "collar" in the cap. I forgot it once and both baby and grandma were soaked by the time I realized what was going on!!) I bought one to keep on hand for when I am babysitting. What an improvement from what was available when I raised my children in the 80s!

  • Title: Great for breastfed baby

My son was born a month early and since we had to supplement, he learned how to eat from bottles from birth. We eventually weened him down to only one bottle a day (so my husband could still participate in feedings) and he was exclusively breastfed. Slowly, by slowly he started eating less from bottles and more from me (per my lactation consultant visits) A month before I had to go back to work, we decided to start practicing eating from bottles, but my son would not eat from those same bottles. He apparently now preferred the breast. I tried several different brands and got really nervous because I didn't want him to starve in the daytime once I went back to work. My lactation consultant recommended Avent bottles because she said that the nipples closely resemble mothers' nipples. My mom actually picked up our first bottle and when we tried it - my son ate from it! When I went to pickup more PROS: - Only bottle my son would eat from. Granted - Very easy to clean. The bottle opening is so wide that you can easily stick in any bottle brush and wash. - Excellent quality CONS: - Have been known to leak. Lost 5oz of my milk from leakage one day at daycare (but only happened once in the past 3 months). I've also been told that it leaks sometimes from top - they just have to unscrew the cap - EXPENSIVE! In comparison to a lot of the other bottles on the shelves - The bottle is very wide. We can't find a thermos with a wide enough neck to warm milk on the go - our solution is a thermos with a wide cap (we pour the hot water in the cap to warm). On a side note Overall

  • Title: No leaking!

I am very happy with these bottles. I think that the "anti-colic" ring does an excellent job of relieving excess suction or pressure so that the baby swallows less air. I have had no problems with the bottles leaking as I have not used the dishwasher for the colic ring or nipples. My husband has had the bottles leak once, and it was a quick fix when he had it threaded wrong (and way too tight). I used Madela bottles previously, but found that the low flow nipple was too slow for my breast fed 2 month old. I am still using the one hole nipple on this bottle and my now 3 month old son isn't frustrated by the flow rate. He drinks 4 oz in about 10-15 minutes.

  • Title: Love these bottles!

I like these bottles! We also use the Playtex Ventaire system, but when you have a screaming baby that is hungry, I would rather only have to slip the nipple into the ring and go. The Ventaire system has extra parts to put together (yes I know I could have them all prepped and ready for action), but it seems I always have bottles that are on the drying rack. I like that Avent bottles are a wider shape, so my little ones' hands can hold them. This set comes with size 2 nipples, so if your babies are older you might want to get size 3 or 4 nipples too.

  • Title: new bottles leak for me

I have had the opposite experience as the previous reviewer. The PES bottles have never leaked on me and these always do. The main thing that I don't like about the new polypropylene bottles is that they require an extra sealing ring inside the outer ring. If you don't use the inner ring, they leak. The PES bottles did not require that extra piece. Both use the same outer ring as always so I'm not sure what is going on there but so it is. I've examined all of my outer rings and they look the same, so the difference is in the bottle itself. Also, my new Avent breast pump (link: Philips AVENT BPA Free ISIS iQ Duo Twin Electric Breast Pump ) has horns made out of the PES

  • Title: Not the same...

This is a case of I should have read the reviews before I bought the product. I used Avent bottles with my 1st daughter after she was born in December of 06. Having my 2nd child now, I ordered them again having loved them the 1st time around and I absolutely hate them. I wasn't prepared for the cloudy color of the bottles and thought there was something wrong with them until I read the reviews others had written. I also dislike having the extra piece. I'll be switching to another brand of bottle. I will keep these since I am a week away from my due date and I am hoping they will function well, but I am unimpressed with the fact that Avent still displays a crystal clear product on their boxes. Like I said before, not happy with these bottles at all... Will probably switch to Tommee Tippee.

  • Title: Do not work with Avent pump system

I have never written a product review before, but thought I should share this very important bit of information because I have been so frustrated...I have had trouble breastfeeding because my baby falls asleep on the nipple within about a minute and wakes up every 15 min hungry again. So, I bought the Avent double electric breast pump so that I could give my baby adequate amounts of breastmilk from a bottle to satisfy her for 1-2 hours at a time. Pump is good, everything works well, but there were only two bottles so I ordered these extra bottles so I can pump four in a row and save the milk. However, the bottles are made of a different, thinner plastic that LEAKS everywhere and does not fit in the stands. So, the first time I had pumped a large amount of milk and placed it in the stand, it just fell over and spilled everywhere. I found ways to remedy the situation, like wrapping a tissue around the bottom to make it a bit thicker so it will (sort of) lock into the stand. But, then when feeding my baby, I found that the milk leaks everywhere as well. Because the plastic changed, they added an adapter to fit the caps, but it leaks on a regular basis. I have no fix for that other than testing the bottles each time and fiddling with the adapter until the leak stops. I have lost so much milk and time with these bottles and am disappointed that I can only ever use two bottles on my expensive pumping system. Wish I knew that before I purchased any Avent products.

I was hesitant to purchase Avent bottle because the the mised reviews. The common complaints were either abouit leakage or about the new sealing ring that was added. Our experience has been great so far. We have had no leaking bottles and the added ring piece is no hardship at all. If that was the solution to the leaking of the previous versions then it seems to work just fine! Our baby does well with these and that is really all that matters! The only reason I didn't give a five is that the packaging and listing does not give enough information. Unless I missed it there is no mention of the type of nipple that come with this 5 pack. For the record they came with Avent #2 which is classified as a medium flow for ages 1-3 months. We had to replace them all with #3 nipples for our little piglet but after that she was fine! :)"

  • Title: Good bottle system

These bottles are good, but not great. They don't leak as other reviewers have stated because of a blue ring that creates a very tight seal. That being said, it is an extra piece to wash. I really like the measurements on the side; they are easy to read and accurate, which is important when you have preemies. My twin boys have bad reflux and these bottles don't make it worse, but they don't make it much better either. The thing that makes these bottle awesome is the storage caps that you can purchase separately and the breast pump adapters. When I pump I need a bigger bottle that the standard 5 oz to keep from switching bottles while pumping, and the 8 oz are perfect for this. I use these bottles to store breastmilk and formula. I also purchased some of the handles for the sippy cups, so that when my boys get a little older they can use the handles to hold their bottles up. The bottles themselves are not anything spectacular, they just do their job, however with all the accessories, it is a great bottle feeding system.

It is simply by the luck of the draw that the average person is able to properly seal these bottles on the first try. So frustrating; I find myself regretting this purchase almost every day, especially since these are supposed to be some of the best bottles out there. On another note

These bottles are great. I got these bottles because my sister recommended them, as well as I've read and been told that lactation consultants recommend them as the nipple closet in resemblence to the breast and I'm breastfeeding and use bottles to feed expressed milk. These bottles have been great. Super easy to clean, and very sturdy to feed and travel with. My son takes to them very well, and he's had more problems with gas and spitting up taking milk from me than these bottles. I love that you can rather cheaply convert the bottles to both breast milk storage and sippy cups. And I have the converter set that works well with my pump (medela - although if I had it to do over again, I'd just get the avent). • Title: Horrible.....they leak.

I read all of these reviews when I was pregnant and was aware that you have to screw the tops of these bottles on just right in order for them not to leak, not too tight. I thought...well that's just common sense...I'll be fine. Let me tell you.....this gets old, fast. Every single time you use one of these bottle you have to screw it on, tip it, if it leaks you have to adjust it. I would say I got it right the first time maybe once out of every 20 times I used it. I would make a bottle think I got it right and then shake it and it would spill everywhere. I had to store them in ziplock baggies when we went anywhere because they leaked all over the diaper bag. When my daughter was 5 months old my husband and I finally had enough and switched to Nuk bottles. Who wants to use a bottle in the middle of the night when you have to turn with precise perfection just to get it not to spill all over your bed.

We have plenty of 9 oz and 4 oz and they've all worked great. We've had no problems with leaking on these bottles so far and have been using them for around two months; and I don't even think I've been that picky about how tight I put the top on (as long as they're on properly, like any threaded connection). The leaking problems must be with older versions of the product; we've bought all of ours since March 2011 and have had no problems. They are also pretty easy to clean compared to some other bottles with venting contraptions on them. So overall, if you're interested in them, I'd say give them a chance without worrying about the leaking reviews. They really should probably be listed as a different product on Amazon.

They are great quality, easy to clean and really easy to use, even in a jam (I flew alone with my four month old and getting her bottles ready was a snap). We have used these for two kids now. They are expensive, but durable and easy to clean. It's nice to have the lids for traveling with a full bottle without spilling or having to worry about leaking. The nipples don't collapse from the suction like other bottles, which really sets these apart in my opinion. When putting my daughter to sleep, she would always wake up when I had to pull the other type of bottle out to 'vent'. I don't fully understand the need for the extra ring that goes between the lid and the bottle, but I figure if they could have designed it without one, they would have. I also like the wide opening because it's so easy to clean with a bottle brush. We'll be buying more of these.

By that time however, I didn't really tote my baby around in an infant car seat anyway and so it seemed natural to move over to a convertable car seat. We also choose maxi cosi for our convertable car seat because we had found it so reliable. the cons or dissapointments that I found with the maxi cosi mico stroller were 1 i think that's about it. • Title: Too many different types

We HATE these bottles. The problem is there are two (at least) types of bottles: the type with the ring and the type that doesn't require the ring with a taller neck and a tannish color. We made the mistake of buying two different types and assuming an Avent was an Avent. But NOOOO, Avent feels it necessary to sell the two types next to each other at Target, with a very subtle distinction on the box. More than a few times after our baby was born were we putting together the puzzle that is an Avent bottle, trying to force ring and nipple on a bottle that doesn't take a ring. Real pain during a 3am feeding crisis. Oh, and the nipples must be attached with care, ring needed or not, or they will leak all over the place. Go with Playtex bottles, more pieces but no guessing or leaking.

I have used Advent bottles for my 4 children over the past 11 years and have loved them all until I tried these new bottles. I do not like the adapter ring, it is easy to forget to install, not install properly, and the entire bottle leaks out fast. The old bottles worked great and I never had a problem with leaking. Never have a problem with air bubbles with these, easy for baby and mommy to grip, clean well in the dishwasher, don't leak otherwise (fine with the lid on or anytime they are not shaken). 1 or 2 flow is good for bfeeding babies, as the flow is not too fast.

These are definitely the best bottles for my baby, who is 5 months currently, and almost exclusively breastfed since birth. She rejects other bottles on certain days, but she never rejects these (as long as the temperature is right). For that reason alone, I have to give this a 5 star. It's so nice to warm up a bottle knowing my little one will take it instead of just chewing on it. The following are the pros and cons I've come across: PROS: 1. BPA free 2. Wide opening and uniform shape makes it easy to clean. Your fingers are likely to even fit inside all the way 3. Excellent nipples. Slow but not too slow. I can even put a tablespoon of rice cereal in her bottle and it flows out the nipple just fine. 4. Bottles have clear blue markings for ml(milliliter) 5. Made in England. CONS: 1. The plastic is thick. I usually warm the milk in a glass of hot tap water. This takes forever and I usually have to switch the water out 4 to 5 times. However 2. Extra adapter ring to wash. But this helps ensure there's no leaks. And it's really not that much of a hassle. 3. One of the nipples got deformed when I poured boiled water on it to sterilize. I was rather surprised since I didn't even boil it. So if you want the nipple to last a long time Overall these have served us very well. I just ordered their 9oz bottles

He has only spit up once since he has been on these bottles and we were able to switch him to a less expensive formula. I love them!! I have never had any leaking problems, I have the adapter ring, and the extra part doesn't create any extra work, hardly takes a second to put it on and wash it, and much better than trying to clean out all those tiny parts on the Dr. Brown's bottles.

  • Title: don't forget the blue insert!

These bottles work as well as the old ones so long as you remember to use the blue insert between the bottle and the lid. It seems like a major design flaw -- unrelated to being BPA free-- that you have to have an extra piece besides just the bottle and the lid. If you forget to use the insert, milk will spill everywhere.

My daughter only uses bottles a few times a month, but when she does, these are the ones we use. They have an "o-ring" as my husband refers to it that helps to prevent leaks from around the nipple and the screw top. We've had that problem with all the cheap-o bottles we bought at first. We were given a twin pack of AVENT bottles as a shower gift, and have now added more to our collection. They are great. They hold up to washing and sterilizing without any leaks.

I used these bottles and loved them with my first child who was formula fed. Since then, the design has been changed (they added the ring)as well as the materials used. Everything I loved about them with my first I still love. The problem is with the nipples. My second is exclusively breastfed and the flow is just too fast. We are still using newborn nipples (baby is 4 months old) and it drowns him. Hes used to the super slow flow of eating on the breast and this just doesnt cut it. He ends up eating too fast and then throws up a good ounce of precious milk, only to be hungry again in 30 minutes. Needless to say, I am now in search of a new bottle.

Recently got the avent bottles that i bought from amazon. Had the bottles shipped to the address of my relative in the U.S and from there she had them shipped to me to the Philippines together w/ other items in a balikbayan box. I was disappointed when i saw the avent bottles. Unlike the avent bottles that i bought from the dept store here in our country, the adapter rings from these bottles (the ones from amazon) are loose. Even the dome caps are not tight-fitting. Haven't used them yet hopefully they won't leak even if the rings are loose.

We liked the brand even though we always had small leaks on the bottles and had to open and close a couple of times to get a good grip. I purchased these bottles to pump into and the description specifically states that it works with the full line of Avent pumps (I have the Isis IQ Duo, which I LOVE). Yes, the bottles screw in correctly but they are too air tight and do not allow the milk to flow down into the bottle creating a HUGE mess! In order to get them to work you have to loosen the bottle which is not convenient at all because then you are constantly worried you are going to lose the whole bottle on the floor! These bottle are AWFUL! Do not buy them to pump with or to feed your child. The old yellow colored ones are much better.

We were forced to supplement with formula when our baby was two weeks old and I was very nervous about the possibility of nipple confusion. I was very happy to see that when my baby used the bottle, her mouth looked identical to when she breastfed. When I began pumping to increase my supply, I used the bottle that came with my breast pump that used a standard/classic nipple. We had lots of issues with this size nipple, mainly our daughter was used to latching very well and filling much of her mouth with the Avent bottle or breast. She spit up a lot and sucked in a lot of air with the standard nipples. I then began pumping into the standard bottles and pouring it into the Avent bottle for my daughter and feeding time went much smoother. Cleaning is a breeze As a first time mom I felt that these Avent bottles and nipples were incredibly easy to deal with

These are good at getting rid of bubbles but sometimes leak when you don't seat the inner ring or cap perfectly. Cap does not always screw on smoothly so you have to be careful. These leak about the same as the Dr. Brown bottles, but are way easier to clean with significantly fewer parts to scrub. These are also compatible with the Dr. Brown's bottle warmer. The numeric labels on the bottle are easy to read You have to buy the inner storage caps separately though. I haven't had to use them yet

Of all of the products we have come across in raising a child, this product, without a doubt, has caused the most frustration. For a bottle that costs as much as they do, one would think they would be easy to use. If you don't thread the top exactly right it will leak. What's worse, sometimes you think you have the lid fitted properly and it still spills all over the place. I am dumbfounded by the number of recommendations we received for this line. Do not buy. Do more research and seek out another option because it is a horrible product.

I am TIRED of smelling like formula because I get leaked on from these bottles. These bottles aren't that hard to figure out how to put together. But if they aren't tightened just right they leak. • Title: Best bottle we've tried

We have 4 month old twin girls that were born premature. We use the Dr. Brown bottles (4 oz) and these Avent 4 oz bottles. Both have the slow flow nipples. What I like about the Avent bottles is that their short stature and relatively wide base make it LESS likely to tip over. Wiping spit-up, burping, etc. You need to set the bottle down quickly sometimes and I can set this on the couch seat cushion and attend to matters without needing to prop it up against a pillow or some other means to keep it from tipping over. Dr. Brown is quite top heavy and wants to tip over. The wide opening in the bottle will accommodate ANY bottle brush. Dr. Brown bottles have some small parts requiring a special "pipe cleaner brush" to get them clean. We used the Dr. Brown exclusively with our smallest twin as subjectively, the Dr. Brown has the SLOWEST slow-flow nipple we've found and she spit up less with DR. Brown than the others early on. We tried Medela, Playtex drop-ins, Vent-aires, Dr. Brown and Avent and have settled on the last two. By 4 months, our littlest one is now able to handle the slightly higher flow of the AVENT without dribbling down her neck so I use the AVENTS exclusively when available. We bought a few of the 8 oz bottles because I read some dumb review that it would be a waste of money to purchase 4 oz bottles because they would grow out of them and why not just buy 8oz from the start. Bologna. I can fit more bottles per sterilization pack (Medela steamer bags are awesome)and don't have to carry gigantic multiple bottles in the diaper bag for our twins. I don't mind taking 30 seconds to refill a 4 oz with a bag of breast mild or a pouch of formula in a pinch. Why not 5 stars? No bottle is perfect. If the underside/base of the nipple doesn't seat just right on the colic/venting ring, the bottle can leak. The simple fix for me has been to unscrew the top, seat the ring in the bottle, check that the nipple is pulled up in the cap well, and screw on slow and snug. I've never had a persistent leaker that I couldn't fix by unscrewing and putting it back together. Leaking happens .. maybe 3-4 days a week at one feeding. Keep in mind, every 3 hour feedings and TWINS. I give high marks to AVENT and DR. Brown with a significant margin to AVENT for ergonomics. The nipples are very similar between the two with a good balance of softness with stiffness and natural form. The AVENT get an edge on nipple shape as well, almost identical to the "real thing" who brought them into this world.

I owned Avent bottles when my son was a baby and had major leaking problems no matter what I did, but I did like the bottles and my son was picky with nipples so these bottles were all he would use. So when I had my daughter I bought the same bottles just because my son did like them and they do have minimal parts but once again I had the same problems I had with them when I had my son...leaking!! I thought maybe the new ring they added to go between the nipple and the bottle had stopped the leaking but apparently not. It seems with the Avent bottles when they nipples are new the bottles work fine (no leaking) and once the nipples get a little older (maybe over a month) they start to leak, and its really bad when your in the middle of feeding you baby and realize the formula leaked all over the baby's clothes and now you have to stop feeding the baby and try to get the bottle to stop leaking and the baby is screaming all the while because they are hungry! So I was browsing around on Amazon and saw that they make Gerber Gentle Flow bottles which have the same shape as the avent bottles and you can even use the Avent nipples on them,,,they will work with all the Avent products. I bought them 3 for 11.99 from amazon and used the Avent nipples with them, I've had them for over 3 months now and I have NOT had a leak once!! I'm telling you, these are great bottles, these bottles still fit in my sterilizer and the bottle brush still works. I don't know what they did differently but these bottles just work. I started using them when my daughter was a month old and she had no gas problems or anything from these bottles, now she is 4 1/2 months and they still work like a charm with the same nipples that were leaking all over the place in the Avent bottles. I would recommend these Gerber Gentle Flow bottles to anyone having problems with Avent bottles, and the Gerber bottles are a ton cheaper. The bottle itself is clear, and the nipple rings are purple, blue, and green. I don't think there is any option to get specific colors but when it comes to bottles that work to me the color doesn't really matter all that much. It is such a shame I spent $60.00 for Avent bottles when my daughter was born and only used them for a month. GO WITH THE GERBER GENTLE FLOW BOTTLES ON AMAZON, YOU WONT BE SORRY! Good luck to all the new parents <3

The bottles includes a plastic ring, which is separate from the rest of the bottle's cap. If you do not fit the ring in the cap, the bottle leaks (usually on your baby...). Forgetting the ring is easy: in the middle of the night, when the baby is crying, or if you have another person (such as daycare staff) taking care of your baby. The added step of fitting the ring complicates assembly of the bottle. Therefore, this bottle was not suitable for us. My original review has been misinforming. Let me start by saying that EVERY bottle I read about through reviews on Amazon had complaints of leaking. I was so torn in choosing between classic glass bottles, Playtex Vent-Air (used for my first child years ago) or Drop-ins, Avent, or MAM. I've now proven to myself that this is most likely related to "operator error", how awake you are when the leak happens, and how OLD the review itself is. Additionally I regret buying the MAM bottles after I learned how easy the Avent bottles are. The MAM bottles work as intended None of these issues exist with the Avent bottles. An extra ring is nothing compared to the base parts of the MAM bottles. Popping the lid on and off the Avent bottles is also another easy thing compared to MAM. • Title: PLEASANTLY SURPRISED

I switched out the size 2 nipples these come with for the size 1, because any bottle nipple, no matter the hole size, is going to be too fast for a breastfed baby - even this one at first. BOTTLE NIPPLES give baby CONSTANT FLOW, whether they're sucking or not. On the breast, however, baby has nearly full control of how much and how fast milk comes out. It's why the Ameda breast pump gives you a 'Cycle' option. You start out fast - just as your baby does when they first latch on - to allow for the milk let-down. Then, you switch to a slower cycle motion to get the most milk out - just as your baby would once they started feeding. On a bottle nipple, if baby starts fast, of course they're going to have issues at first, until they slow down their sucking motion. I regret buying the MAM bottles after I learned how easy the Avent bottles are. The MAM bottles work as intended None of these issues exist with the Avent bottles. An extra ring is nothing compared to the base parts of the MAM bottles. Popping the lid on and off the Avent bottles is also another easy thing compared to MAM. These bottles (and stage 1 nipples) have been a HUGE help with my daughter and I. We are able to switch back and forth between these bottles with the stage 1 nipples (as these bottles are not sold with stage 1 nipples but stage 2, so you have to order them seperate) and breastfeeding. My daughter was almost 4 weeks old when I started solely pumping and using a bottle to feed her. She is able to go between the bottle and BF as it works for us. This way it frees up some of my time to get things done. We also had a lot of gas issues when I was solely breastfeeding and had tried supplemting with gripewater or gas drops too but it just wasn't cutting it and we were spending more time awake and crying (both of us) than ever sleeping or being happy. Going to this bottle and the stage 1 nipples helped tremendously by reducing the amount of air she intakes along with either gripewater or gas drops. I highly recommend these bottles and the stage 1 nipples... we've tried the Medela Calma but why spend the money for an extremely expensive nipple when you can spend much less and get the same results? I love my daughters bonding time whether its over a bottle or by BF...

For my first baby, we used cheap bottles I bought at Walgreens. We had tons of them, and they constantly got messed up in the dishwasher, leaked, were annoying to clean, etc. These bottles, however, are fantastic. The wide mouth makes them so much easier to use and clean. The little leakproof ring was annoying for the first day (took some getting used to, I dropped it on the floor a few times.) But I quickly got used to it, and now I will never go back to cheap bottles. My 8-month-old baby is pretty picky about the bottles she will use (I still mostly breastfeed, but am working on weaning her) and she took to these bottles very easily. Now, she feeds herself a bottle in her carseat when we are on the go. These have held up well in the dishwasher so far, but honestly are easy to clean by hand too. No annoying indentations in the bottle for formula bits to get stuck in. I would recommend these to any parent.

I like the PP bottles better than PES (honey tint) ones since this proved to be better at being "leak-free". Sometimes its hard to set the screw ring on the bottle but you really just have to set it on top properly and twist back and forth a little to be able to screw it on properly to be really leak-free. Make sure you dont forget the adaptor ring otherwise it will leak a lot (which has happened to me quite a few times at first and my baby's neck was soaked with milk!). Really, at first its a hassle to have that extra adaptor rigns but you'll get used to it especially if the benefit of having a leak-free bottle is the end result. Also, to note, when doing formula, if you try to fill it out to 4oz fully, you have to be careful in adding the formula since there's not much space left in the bottle. what i do is add half the formula then shake the bottle a little bit to soak the formula then add the rest.

I'm very happy with Avent's update to the bottle with the sealing ring under the nipple. I had used Avent bottles in the past with my other children and they frequently leaked - no problems with the new design. I really like Avent's wider bottle design as it makes it much easier to clean them (and who really likes washing bottles, right?!).

  • Title: Perfect Bottles

I tried a lot of bottles with my refluxy baby and found I needed a vented bottle. I used this bottle and the Dr. Browns bottle. Both got great results (happy baby, leak free, etc.) but this one is just so much easier to clean. The bottle has a small adapter ring inside the rim which helps get air through, a feature designed to fix the leaks previously found with Avent bottles. Other than that rim, the bottle is just like other wide-necked bottles. It's also nice that the bottle holds 5oz and 9oz instead of the standard 4oz and 8oz size because it gives formula feeding parents a little extra room for mixing. The measurement lines are also very clearly marked (though the difference between UK and US fluid ounces can get challenging in the middle of the night) which is a nice touch.

Ive purchased and returned these bottles several times (also purchased the pink ones) and they all leaked alot, to the point where I had to wrap a paper towel around them... I made sure I was installing the nipple and vent ring correctly as well, they leaked no matter what... At times the vent didn't even work ... I would have to pull the nipple out of my baby's mouth because the nipple would collapse due to suction from failing to vent. This is a poor design

We have been using the 4 and 9 oz bottles and still like them. The bottles are easy to clean and don't have many parts (4). We had some leakage: the worst was a spare bottle at daycare dripping water onto the car seat. Well, we did have accidents when we didn't put all parts together. That does cause problems. There is a small ring that sits "between" the bottle and the white ring visible in pictures. Without it most of the content ends up on the baby. But that's definitely a user error.

After trying SEVERAL different bottles, I am pleased to say that the Avent bottles took the gold. We tried the Medela bottles, Dr. Brown's, and MAMs before finally finding this bottle. The extra adapter ring is not that big of a deal. It is definitely a step forward from the Dr. Brown's bottles which have many different parts. The wide mouth on the bottle makes it easy to clean and add formula. One note, make sure to assemble the adapter ring when wet like the instructions say or the bottle will leak. Ever since we started assembling it correctly, the bottle does not leak at all. Also, our son had a really bad gas problem because he ate way too fast and got lots of air in his tummy. Since switching to the Avent bottles, that has reduced. We are very pleased with this bottle and will be using them with our future children.

  • Title: Do not buy these bottles

These bottles leak. Waste of money. They are cheap and this is why. My son was given a single advent bottle when he was younger, did not leak and did NOT have the insert ring. It seems as though the ring was created to correct the leakage problem however they were not 100% successful. Additionally, it's one more small piece that can easily be misplaced.

I had been using Dr. Brown bottles for a while but wanted something that was easier to clean and less of a hassle to assemble so I thought I'd give these Avent bottles a try. Not only are they easy to clean and assemble, I have had no issues with any part of the bottle leaking (as long as you put the ring on). Unlike the Dr. Brown bottles I really like the fact that Avent has interchangeable parts to grow with your child through their stages. The only downside Overall

Well the title says it all - these have not leaked unless I forgot the ring or did not assemble the parts correctly. I use these with the variable flow nipples. My baby had AWFUL reflux and these bottles were a lifesaver for that because they allowed me to feed baby rice cereal in her formula. I did have issues with the nipples collapsing BUT I found out I was the cause of that, too: the top (part nipple is attached to) did not need as much tightening as I was giving it. In fact, the less I tightened the top, the better. And still, NO LEAKS! Before these I tried Dr. Brown's and those were a complete joke. I returned those. As a new parent and mom to 2 babies under the age of one So The reason I gave these 4 stars is because after 4 months of use these clear bottles are now tinted orange/red. They are washed well Aside from that

  • Title: Leak, too many pieces to clean, but better than alternatives

We tried 4 different bottle brands, and this is the one we settled on as the best. Considering how bad the other ones were, though, it's not really saying much. Each bottle have FIVE different pieces you have to clean separately (bottle, nipple, O ring, outer ring, and cap) and it just gets to be a huge pain. The O ring also leaks frequently no matter how tightly you put it on and it spills all over the baby. They also leak out of the nipple when the cap is on because the only thing keeping the milk in is the fact that the holes are supposed to be pressed up against the flat top of the cap. The problem with this is that you have to put the cap on extremely carefully and put it on *exactly* straight down to prevent the nipple from bending over and letting milk leak. Even doing all that doesn't always prevent leaking, though. That being said, these are all problems we've run into with other bottle brands, so it's kind of a matter of choosing the best of the worst. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars because of that.

Don't let the marketing fool you, the seals on this bottle are terrible. If you like to upset your baby and see milk spill all over them from the side of a bottle after they had their bath and are all clean and need another bath then get these POS bottles. Our little man was very upset with all the leaked milk this Terrible product caused. Leaking milk, wet baby, angry baby equals upset Dad. Go Dr Brown's instead of this Euro-Trash.

These bottles are truly nothing special. I can't believe how insanely expensive they are! They didn't decrease the amount of air my daughter swallowed, and you can visibly see the bubbles entering the milk. Isn't that the whole point of these? To reduce air intake? They're definitely not the first bottles I reach for, but I will use them in a pinch. Overall, I would not recommend.

  • Title: So disappointed!

We have used these bottles since our son was born- first the tiny four ounce ones and now the big nine ounce ones. Our son likes them because they're wide enough that he can hold onto them himself. I didn't notice any miracle cure for fussing or less gas or anything like that. What I did notice is that the gasket that goes inside the ring that screws onto the bottle melts in the microwave sterilizer. They got a little bumpy but were still usable. Until one super late night feeding when my husband and baby got soaked when the gasket apparently just couldn't work anymore. We still have almost a dozen of these bottles and they're not cheap so we threw out the gasket and just used the other bottles and parts. Tonight when we ran the bottles through the microwave sterilizer, two of the rings melted and fused together. Why would a company make a baby bottle with only certain parts that can withstand sterilizing? I plan to contact the company and complain, but of course they make it more difficult and only accept phone calls, not email complaints.

  • Title: Not Impressed

I was one of the people who bought into the hype. I thought these bottles were something special because of the air venting for less intake. I registered for all oz sizes in multi packs and was so excited to try them with the supplemental formula feeding the pediatrician recommended due to jaundice. The best I can say is that I did not have any leaking issues. However So not worth it and fails to help with upset tummy. The nipple I got from the hospitals formula bottle on my Medela pump bottle was worlds better. I do not recommend these. Im now using the Tommee Tippee bottles

  • Title: Good, but there are better options

I originally registered for these bottles to use with my Avent pump, but breastfeeding didn't work out for us so I started using them for formula. At first I thought they were great, no leaking, easy to fill with water and powered formula, easy to clean (no annoying parts). Then, after about a month of use I started to experience some leaking. I also think they could do a better job preventing gas issues. My baby is pretty gassy, and these bottles don't seem to do much for that. I did notice a slight increase in gas when using a bottle without a vent system (Evenflo Classic glass) but it was not significant. Now, at almost six weeks, I have quite a few leaks. I do assemble them mostly when they are still wet, but to me that seems like it would create other issues, namely mold. We rotate about 14 bottles, and so I would imagine that our stock towards the back of the cupboard might not be used as frequently as the front stock, depending on how often we are washing. So the idea of not waiting for the bottles to dry to assemble them just to prevent leaks seems like a bad idea. I wish they just didn't leak at all. Another minor annoyance with these are the nipples. Even the newborn flow seems too fast for my son Now I do like how easy they are to wash

My daughter seems to like them just fine, but I don't know that they really do anything to help with swallowing air. Then again, my daughter seems to swallow a ridiculous amount of air no matter what. Also, these things leak when you first tighten the lid. The only thing that seems to consistently prevent these from leaking is wetting the inside of the nipple before screwing it on. Kind of annoying on top of wasting A LOT of formula and pumped breast milk before we figured it out.

  • Title: LOVE these bottles

I absolutely can not say enough about these bottles. I have been using Avent bottles (and sippy cups) for my 5 month old son and have been beyond happy! I have learned a few tricks to help with the leaking, some I got from the manufacturer's instructions and some I got from other users. First, do not put the gasket rings in the dishwasher! It will warp them and they will leak. The bottles, nipples, caps and rings can go in the dishwasher without a problem but the smaller gaskets can not go in the dishwasher. Also, they seal much better if the rim of the bottle and the gasket are wet. I've had more problems with my 9 oz leaking than my 4 oz ever did so it's really important that I make SURE the gaskets are seated properly. It's not as high maintenance as it sounds. I love the Avent products and can not say enough about them!

i have only used two brands for my baby - medela and avent. i initially used medela exclusively because i was breast feeding and it was just easier to pump into their bottles. however, when i returned to work i needed to supplement with formula so i switched to avent. you can still pump into these bottles, but you will need the Breast Pump Conversion Kit . things i like about it: * easy to clean * nipple is flush to the cap (it doesn't spill everywhere when you shake to mix it in the bottle unlike medela) things i don't like about it: * you must use the Adaptor Ring or else you'll get major leaks * i've had to buy extra rings (they're small so they fall into the garbage disposal unless you use a sink stopper/strainer) overall

These bottles leak from two places- where the nipple meets the screw cap and where the screw cap meets the bottle. They leak when used properly and following all instructions! I called avent and they sent me replacement parts- nipples and screw caps, plus storage discs to turn the bottles into useable fridge/freezer storage. The bottles still leaked! So I got another brand o use as bottles and now just use these for storage. I recommend choosing another brand.

  • Title: Great bottles - just assemble them properly!

I was leery of purchasing these bottles because of all the reviews regarding leaking, but I tried them out and they are awesome. Users just need to make sure they are assembled properly - meaning the nipple is firmly snapped into the large ring, and the small adaptor ring is placed properly, with the blue side facing inside the bottle. It really isn't rocket science! I'm a former Playtex drop-in user, and I've definitely been converted. I was spoiled with the ease of just throwing away the Playtex liners, but I got tired of constantly buying box upon box of liners and creating tons of extra garbage. My son (almost 8 mos) has no gas issues with Avent bottles and seems to take a better amount of formula vs. Playtex. Also note: the nipples are faster than Playtex. My son was on a medium flow Playtex nipple, but he is on the Avent slow flow (#2), and it doesn't take him long to finish a bottle (10-15 minutes). I'll definitely be purchasing the smaller Avent bottles for my new little guy that will be arriving in February!

  • Title: No problem with leaks, but nipple design not the best for my newborn

I received several of the Avent classic bottles as shower gifts, and they had been recommended by many friends. I have had zero problems with leaks, they are easy to clean, and I like that I can pump directly into these bottles using the Avent adapter kit (purchased separately) with my Lansinoh pump. The big downside is the gassiness my daughter experiences when feeding from these as opposed to another brand of bottles I'm using (MAM). The nipple shape of the Avent doesn't seem to fit her mouth properly, so she dribbles lots of milk out the sides of her mouth while feeding--very messy and a sad waste of precious breastmilk! She also spits up more, gets hiccups, and is more fussy after feedings using the Avent bottles compared with the MAM bottles. And yes, I am using the right flow nipple for her age. The only problem with the MAM is that I can't warm them in a bottle warmer because of the base design, and they do leak a bit. So I am using a combo of the Avent bottles and the other brand: Avent for bottles that need to be warmed up and the others when I can pump and feed her right away. Bottom line--I don't think a perfect bottle for all babies exists, so most of us will have to try at least a couple different brands to see what works best. It gets expensive!

I will preface that my babies were exclusively bottle fed, so there is no breast to bottle compatibility issues here. Also, none of the bottles had leaking issues- the following comparisons are on a 'all else being equal' basis. Tommee Tippee: Only 3 pieces. The thing I didn't like Playtex Ventaire: 5 pieces. My only complaint is that the neck is very narrow Philips Avent: 4 pieces. There are so many measurement ticks Dr. Browns: 7 pieces. Two of these pieces need to be cleaned with a pipe cleaner so they are absolutely not dishwasher friendly. Biggest complaint- the measurements are not in marked in paint Similac: 3-4 pieces. Leak proof seals were created more than thirty years ago. It is a technology that we find in cheap soda bottles, in disposable pasta sauces and in pet food containers. Why then, did philips, a company that manufacturers TV sets, led lamps and other high technology itens used it in this bottle? The answer might be a bit shocking Business executives realised that these milk bottles were lasting longer than they should - the company was not maximising its profit potential with the product. They met with their designer team and someone had the great idea of creating a ""ring adapter"" that could be easily lost It is known that designers and engineers often discuss how long a product should last - which should be just enough for the customer to be happy with the life of the product but not long enough to hurt the bottom line. The worst part is that since most companies do this So much so that my wife bought these bottles twice! Recently she forgot to put the ""ring adapter"" on the bottle and gave it to our 1 yr old Philips stand up for your name as company! Show to the world you are capable of making a seal proof bottle! But we don't have a colicky baby. Maybe the ring does help colicky babies. The cap: They are impossible to open at times. The stopper: I had to mix a bottle in the train while LO was in the carrier. They are also the only bottles my daughter likes - she will tolerate Dr. Brown's (but not other narrow nipples, go figure) but she drinks much better from these very wide nipples. Obviously that's an individual thing, but I do believe that they are closer to the 'real thing'; compared to other brands (we tried several) she opens her mouth much wider with these bottles and feeds in a manner most similar to when she is nursing. I used these with my son. They work fine with minimal leakage. The problem is they are plastic and after a while thy re just gross. Even after boiling I still felt weird about using them. This is true for all plastic bottles, they are porous and getting them clean is really difficult. I switched to glass and have been so relieved.

These were a wonderful product for a grandchild with feeding issues. They worked better than all the others we tried.

These are great bottles. Bottle feed from the beginning and my baby was never colicky or gassy. Easy to clean and put together.

  • Title: Frustrating

We use these because I have an Avent pump that pumps directly into these bottles (which is convenient). When they're functioning right the work just fine. However It is nice that they're wide-necked and easier to wash. You can get little discs to replace the nipples to turn them into carrying containers. I used them to carry purees for my son when he started solids My son had colic so I can't vouch for the supposed colic-preventing properties (although he only had one bottle of expressed milk a day at the time

  • Title: Love these bottles

I must say Avent are my favorite bottles on the market and I believe my son feels the same way. Every child I have ever met and have ever feed has used these bottles. With the newer Avent bottles on the market (the four ounce blue ones) my son is able to get every drop out of the bottle when eating. When I go to clean the bottles and pour whatever formula is left in them, there is never anything to pour out because my son has drank every drop in the bottle. I have one of these regular Avent bottles and I like them as well as the new ones. They were extremely easy when I was breastfeeding as well. My son had no nipple confusion when we had to supplement formula.

  • Title: GOOD HASSLE-FREE PRODUCT

I used Dr. Brown bottles with my first son and got a little tired with all the little extra bits that had to be washed and assembled. Avent does the same job (re colic etc) without the extra hassle. As a busy mom I appreciate any product that saves me extra work. Haven't had any problems with the bottles leaking thus far - I just make sure that I put on the adaptor ring as indicated and everything goes fine.

My baby is using this brand always. It's big enough to shake up the milk powder. And the rubber nipple is soft and easy to suck. Good!

  • Title: Great quality

My Wife and I have had great success with these bottles. They are easy to clean and all my kids did well with them. These bottles really don't leak if you rinse the nipple with hot water (to soften up the seal). Never had issues after that.

  • Title: Good quality and easy to clean, but doesn't handle cereal well

Before using these, we were using Dr. Browns' bottles, which were really great for feeding, but were horrible to clean because of the small parts and holes that required a special brush and lots of attention. These are good for feeding with formula and are much easier and quicker to clean (cleaning nine bottles takes me ~10-15 minutes The only downside - they don't handle cereal well. We like to feed our child formula mixed with some rice cereal for her last bottle of the day AVENT does have another nipple for variable flow that's supposed to solve this problem

My daughter prefers this bottle to the other. Also, and the wide mouth makes it easy to clean- no bottle brush needed!

  • Title: Works as advertised

I was using the Playtex regular vent aire but those leak from the bottom. I needed a better set of bottles for storing and warming pumped breast milk. Avent bottles are great for the job. The assembly is not complicated if you follow the instructions included in the box. And baby doesn't spit up the milk and seems to like these bottles a lot better. Great value for money!

  • Title: Almost perfect...

We only use AVENT bottles in our home. I really like them, except that they leak! I have read every review possible attempting to find the secret to prevent leaking (I have yet to find a solution). That being said, I will absolutely use them with any additional children I have. Reasons I like AVENT bottles: - Easy to clean. I've hand washed them and used the dishwasher - depending on the space in my dishwasher. The bottles are perfectly safe in the dishwasher - Wide mouth. I like that when pouring formula into the bottle it is wide enough to accommodate the scoop or formula dispenser. I've been told that many other brands are not easy to use with formula because the mouth is very narrow causing a lot of formula to spill. - Price. These bottles are not the cheapest but are much better priced than many other popular brands. I feel as though they are priced in the middle. - Interchangeable parts. I like that I can get these bottles and use them with the sippy handles and sippy spouts to turn them into sippy cups. I also used these for milk/formula storage with the storage disks (which go in the place of the nipple). One bottle can be so many different things for just a small additional price. CONS: - Again UPDATE: - After writing this review I called Philips AVENT about any additional suggestions for stopping the bottle from leaking. While their customer service was excellent they didn't give me any additional suggestions. I also did more internet research and found an interesting solution that I hadn't found before. Basically it just tells you to align two (2) of the three (3) air valves on the nipple with two (2) of the four (4) plastic fins on the nipple ring. I tried this and with the bottles I've used this technique they haven't leaked! This takes a little bit of effort to do but solves the leaking problem."

  • Title: Excellent and handy

I've been using Avent bottles since my baby was born and I really like it. They're clear, BPA-free, easy to clean and sterilize. My baby never had any problems with the nipple - this one and other Avent types - and it may be true they reduce fussiness I just wish it didn't need the adaptor bottle ring

  • Title: So much easier...

We were using Dr. Brown bottles, but they are so much more difficult to clean. I went on the hunt for a bottle that didn't have as many parts yet reduced air flow. After many duds including the Avent Natural bottles. I tried the Classic bottle I received as a free sample in the mail and waaaaaaa! I purchased more and have packed up the Dr. Brown bottles. I haven't experienced the leaking issue other reviewers mentioned. If you don't put the ring in...well you are looking at a huge mess, but with ring no issues. They're so much easier to clean and sterilize.

  • Title: great for my son

these work well for my son. They do seem to leak if you don't get the hang of putting on the washer thing and the top well. they function well and you can see the bubbles going up and NOT into my child. Less gas.
